The Tennessee Southern Railroad offers customized
railroad operations and unique locations to film and video tape
production companies, TSRR brings together professional railroaders
and experienced production values. Production crews working on
TSRR can "Own the Railroad"
"OCTOBER SKIES" 1997 , Universal Studios. To recreate a 1950's
West Virginia coal train, director Joe Johnston called on Tennessee
Southern Railroad's vintage TSRR coal cars and the Tennessee Valley
Railroad's steam locomotive #4501. Repainted in period paint schemes,
the movie train traveled for almost 2 weeks and filmed at 5 different
East Tennessee locations. CSX Transportation, US Tennessee Valley
Authority Kingston Fossil Plant, US Department of Energy and Rail
Transportation Management Specialists personnel all worked together
to keep the train "on time" and available for the rigorous production
schedule.
